বাংলাদেশের প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা দেশের প্রথম মেট্রোরেল পরিষেবার প্রথম ধাপের উদ্বোধন করেছেন। বাংলাদেশ এর মধ্য দিয়ে একটি ডিজিটাল মেট্রোরেল ব্যবস্থায় প্রবেশ করল।
আজ বুধবার (২৮ ডিসেম্বর) বেলা ১১টা ১০ মিনিটের দিকে ঢাকা উত্তরা ১৫ নম্বর সেক্টরের সি-১ ব্লকের খেলার মাঠে বাংলাদেশ সরকারের মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা ফলক উন্মোচন করে মেট্রোরেলের উদ্বোধন করেন।
উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সঙ্গে তার ছোট বোন শেখ রেহানা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। অন্যদের মধ্যে ছিলেন বাংলাদেশের সড়ক পরিবহন ও সেতুমন্ত্রী ওবায়দুল কাদের।
প্রাথমিকভাবে ঢাকা উত্তরা থেকে আগারগাঁও পর্যন্ত শুরুর দিকে মোট ছয়টি বগি বিশিষ্ট ১০ সেট ট্রেন নিয়মিত চলাচল করবে। আপাতত প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে এই রুটে ধীরগতিতে ট্রেন চলাচল করবে। এই পর্যায়ে প্রথম সেশনে সকাল ৮টা থেকে দুপুর ১২টা পর্যন্ত ট্রেন চলবে, পরে প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী চলাচলের সময় বাড়ানো হবে এবং চাহিদা অনুযায়ী ট্রেনের সংখ্যা বাড়ানোর সিদ্ধান্ত রয়েছে।
পরিপূর্ণ গতিতে ট্রেন চলাচল নিয়মিত শুরু হলে প্রতি সাড়ে তিন মিনিট পরপর একটি করে ট্রেন চলবে। মেট্রোরেলের প্রতিটি স্টেশনে, ট্টেনযাত্রীদের ওঠা ও নামা সম্পূর্ণ না হওয়া পর্যন্ত ট্রেনটি অপেক্ষায় থাকবে। প্রতিটি ট্রেন দুই হাজার তিনশত জন যাত্রী নিয়ে ঘণ্টায় একশ থেকে একশতদশ কিলোমিটার গতিতে চলতে পারে। তবে বাঁকযুক্ত এলাকায় গতির তারতম্য ঘটবে।
ঢাকা উত্তরা থেকে শুরু করে মতিঝিল-কমলাপুর রেলওয়ে স্টেশন পর্যন্ত একুশ দশমিক ২৬ কিলোমিটারের পুরো রুটটি চল্লিশ মিনিটেরও কম সময়ে ভ্রমণ করে মেট্রোরেল ট্রেন প্রতি ঘণ্টায় ষাট হাজার যাত্রী বহন করবে বলে ধারণা করা হচ্ছে।
বাংলাদেশের মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা ২০১৬ সালের ২৪ জুন মেট্রোরেল এই প্রকল্পের নির্মাণ কাজ উদ্বোধন করেন। এই প্রকল্পটি এমআরটি লাইন-৬ নামে পরিচিত।
পরে বাংলাদেশের সড়ক পরিবহন ও সেতুমন্ত্রী ওবায়দুল কাদের নগরীর আগারগাঁও পয়েন্টে এলিভেটেড ভায়াডাক্টের ১ম অংশ এবং এমআরটি লাইন-৬ এর ৯টি স্টেশনের নির্মাণ কাজ নতুন করে উদ্বোধন করেন ওবায়দুল কাদের।
প্রথমদিকে এমআরটি লাইন-৬ প্রকল্পের ব্যয় ছিল একুশ হাজার ৯৮৫ কোটি টাকা প্রায়। পরবর্তীতে মতিঝিল হইতে কমলাপুর বাড়তি অংশ যোগ হওয়ায় প্রকল্প ব্যয় বাড়ে এগারো হাজার ৪৯৬ কোটি ৯২ লাখ টাকা। এ কারনে প্রকল্পে সর্বমোট ব্যয় ধরা হয় ৩৩ হাজার ৪৭২ কোটি টাকা প্রায়। এর মধ্যে প্রকল্পের উন্নয়ন সহযোগী জাইকা করছে উনিশ হাজার ৭১৯ কোটি টাকা প্রায়। এছাড়া সরকারি অর্থায়ন ছিল প্রায় তের হাজার ৭৫৩ কোটি টাকা।
ঢাকাস্থ ঢাকা ম্যাস ট্রানজিট কোম্পানি লিমিটেড (ডিএমটিসিএল) সূত্র জানায়, ২০৩০ সালের মধ্যে বাংলাদেশে বিভিন্ন স্থানে মোট ছয়টি মেট্রোরেলের নির্মাণকাজ ক্রমান্বয়ে তিন ধাপে কাজ শেষ করা হবে।
আরও জানাযায় এমআরটি লাইন-৬ বাদে বাকী প্রকল্পের অগ্রগতিও হচ্ছে সময়মতো। তাছাড়া ২য় পর্যায়ে ২০২৮ সালের মধ্যে MRTলাইন-৫ নর্দান রুটের নির্মাণকাজ শেষ করা হবে বলে ধারনা করা হচ্ছে।
৩য় পর্যায়ে ২০৩০ সালের মধ্যে এমআরটি লাইন-৫: এবং সাউদার্ন রুট, অপরদিকে এমআরটি লাইন-২, এমআরটি লাইন-৪ ও এমআরটি লাইন-১ এর নির্মাণকাজ খুব দ্রুত শেষ করা হবে বলে জানাযায়।

Today Wednesday (December 28) at around 11:00 am 10:00 pm, the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the metro rail by unveiling the plaque at the playground of C-1 Block of Dhaka Uttara Sector 15.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by his younger sister Sheikh Rehana at the inauguration ceremony. Among others was Bangladesh Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.
Initially, 10 sets of trains with a total of six coaches will run regularly from Dhaka Uttara to Agargaon. For the time being, trains will run slowly on this route in the initial phase. At this stage, the trains will run from 8 am to 12 noon in the first session, later the running time will be extended as per the need and it is decided to increase the number of trains as per the demand.
One train will run every three-and-a-half minutes if the train runs regularly at full speed. At each Metrorail station, the train will wait until boarding and alighting of passengers is complete. Each train can carry two thousand three hundred passengers at a speed of one hundred to one hundred ten kilometers per hour. However, speed variations will occur in curved areas.
Starting from Dhaka Uttara to Motijheel-Kamalapur railway station, the entire route of 21.26 kilometers will travel in less than 40 minutes and it is estimated that the metro rail train will carry 60,000 passengers per hour.
Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the construction work of this metro rail project on June 24, 2016. This project is known as MRT Line-6.
Later, Bangladesh Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader inaugurated the construction work of the 1st part of the elevated viaduct and 9 stations of MRT Line-6 at Agargaon Point in the city.
Initially, the cost of the MRT Line-6 project was around Tk 21,985 crore. Later, due to the addition of an additional section from Motijheel to Kamalapur, the project cost increased by 11 thousand 496 crore 92 lakh taka. For this reason, the total cost of the project is estimated at 33 thousand 472 crores. Of this, the development partner of the project, JICA, is spending about 19 thousand 719 crores. Apart from this, the government funding was about 13 thousand 753 crore taka.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) sources said that by 2030, the construction work of six metrorails in different places in Bangladesh will be gradually completed in three phases.
Also, apart from MRT Line-6, the rest of the projects are progressing on time. Moreover, the construction of MRT Line-5 Northern Route is expected to be completed by 2028 in the 2nd phase.
In the 3rd phase, MRT Line-5: and the Southern Route, while MRT Line-2, MRT Line-4 and MRT Line-1 are expected to be completed very quickly by 2030.
