আগুনে পুড়ছে বঙ্গবাজার নিয়ন্ত্রনে ৫০টি ফায়ার সার্ভিসের ইউনিট।
৪ এপ্রিল ভোর ৬টার দিকে আগুন লাগে রাজধানী ঢাকার বঙ্গবাজারে। বেলা ১১টা পর্যন্ত পাঁচ ঘণ্টায়ও আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনা যায়নি। আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে ফায়ার সার্ভিসের ৫০টি ইউনিটের পাশাপাশি কাজ করছে সেনা, নৌ ও এয়ার ডিফেন্স দল। যোগ দিয়েছে বিজিবির একটি টিম। তাছাড়া পুলিশ প্রশাসন ও র্যাব আশপাশের রাস্তার পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে কাজ করছে।
এখানে বড় বড় সব দোকান দাউ দাউ করে জ্বলছে। বড় বড় চারটি মার্কেট ও বহু দোকান এক জায়গায় হওয়ায় স্থানীয়রা বঙ্গবাজার মার্কেট হিসেবে চিনে। এখানে তিন হাজার বড় দোকান রয়েছে বলে জানা যায়। মুলত নানা রকম পোশাক থাকায় আগুনের তীব্রতা ক্রমশ বাড়ছে।
বঙ্গবাজার পোশাকের বাজার ছাড়াও রাস্তার বিপরীতে অগ্নিসংযোগ বিস্তার করেছে।
এখানে তাপদাহের তীব্রতার কারণে পাশে রাখা ফায়ার সার্ভিসের গাড়িগুলো দ্রুত নিরাপদ স্থানে সরিয়ে ফেলতে হয়েছে। দূরে থাকা গাড়িগুলো থেকে পাইপ দিয়ে পানি ছিটিয়ে আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণ করছে ফায়ার কর্মীরা।
প্রচন্ড ধোঁয়ায় আশপাশের পুরোএলাকা অন্ধকার হয়ে গেছে। ধোয়ার কারনে দূর থেকে কিছু দেখা যাচ্ছে না। ফায়ার সার্ভিস কর্মীরাও দূর থেকে পানি দিয়ে আগুন নেভানোর চেষ্টা করছেন। আগুন যেন আশপাশের বহুতল দালানে ছড়াতে না পারে তাই কাজ করছে ফায়ার কর্মীরা।
এদিকে আগুন নেভাতে পর্যাপ্ত পানির অভাব তৈরি হয়েছে। এখানে পাশের বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পুকুর থেকে পানি নিচ্ছে ফায়ার সার্ভিস। ঐ পুকুরের দায়ীত্বরত নিরাপত্তা প্রহরী বলেন, আগুনের জন্য ফায়ারের সদস্যরা আমাদের কাছে আসে পানির জন্য। সাহায্যের জন্য আমরা হলের গেট খুলে দেই। তারা দমকলের সাহায্যে পুকুরের পানি ব্যবহার করছে।
স্থানীয়দের ফায়ারের কাজে প্রতিবন্ধকতা সৃষ্টি না করে সহযোগীতা করার কথা কিছুক্ষণ পর পর মাইকে বলা হচ্ছে ।
একাধিক ব্যবসায়ীদের সঙ্গে কথা বলে জানা গেছে, সকালবেলা অগ্নিকাণ্ডের খবর পাওয়ার পর পরই দ্রুত ছুটে আসেন দোকান মালিকরা। তবে আগুনের তীব্রতার কারণে কেউ মার্কেটের ভেতর ঢুকতে পারেনি। শুধু সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে থেকে নিজেদের সম্পদ আগুনে পুড়ে ছাই হয়ে যেতে দেখেছেন নিরুপায় দোকান মালিকরা।
ফায়ার সার্ভিস টিম জানীয়েছে, আশপাশের বৈদ্যুতিক সংযোগ এখন বন্ধ রাখা হয়েছে। আগুন যেন ছড়াতে না পারে তাই ফায়ার সার্ভিসের লেডার গাড়ি প্রস্তুত রয়েছে। লেডার দিয়ে উপর থেকে পানি দেয়া সহজ হবে বলে জানা যায়। এই লেডার দিয়ে পানি নিক্ষেপ করা হচ্ছে। তাছাড়া প্রচন্ড ধোয়ার কারণে কিছুটা কাজ করতে সমস্যা হচ্ছে।

A fire broke out at around 6 am on April 4 in Bangabazar, the capital city of Dhaka. The cause could not be brought under control even in five hours. Along with 50 units of the fire service, all the support teams of the army, navy and air force are working to control the fire. A BGB team has joined. Moreover, the police and RAB are working to control the traffic and crowd on the surrounding streets.
The fire is burning in all the four markets of Bangabazar. Bangabazar Market, Islamia Market, Banga 10 Crore Market, Adarsh Market - As these four markets are in one place, basically all of them are called as Bangabazar Market by local people. Shop owner informed that there are about 3000 biggest shops in these four markets. The intensity of the fire is increasing due to the fact that there are different types of clothes.
Apart from Bangabazar area, fire has falling to a shop on the opposite side area.
Due to the intensity of the fire in Bangabazar, the fire service vehicles kept on the road had to be quickly removed. The sefty team personnel can be seen putting water by pipe contract from cars in the distance.
The entire area has become dark due to heavy smoke. The fire sefty team personnel are also working to douse the area with water from a distance.The Fire sefty team are also workhard that the fire does not increase to the surrounding multi-storey area.
Meanwhile, there is a huge shortage of water to put out the fire. The fire team get water from near the pond of Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall to control the fire in Bangabazar. Security guard in charge of the hall. The security gurd said, fire sefty team come to us for water to handle the fire. Later we open the hall gate. They have since been getting water from the near pond.
Apart from this, the idea of helping the locals without creating obstacles in the work of the fire service is being preached on the mic every now and then.
Talking to several businessmen, it is known that after getting the news of the fire in the morning, the shop owners came quickly. However, nobody enter the market due to the severity of the fire. The helpless shopkeepers saw their property burnt to ashes just by standing in front of them.
Fire service personnel have learned that all electrical lines in the vicinity have been shut down. It is said that it will be possible to throw water from above. Water is being thrown through this ladder. Moreover, due to heavy washing, there is some difficulty in working.
